2026 Week 10 Recap

DETROIT, MICHIGAN – The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen has played cornhole in backyards, driveways, barns, and even garages over the years. However, Thursday marked the first time we held league night in an armored vehicle depot.

Thanks to Roger’s employer, LEG was welcomed into what I’ve affectionately named The Battle Garage, a warehouse with enough armored vehicles to make Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un jealous. It was the perfect safe haven from what looked like a war zone outside due to the Canadian wildfires infiltrating metro Detroit.

Nothing makes you feel more like a man and amps the competitive juices quite like warming up next to a truck designed to survive roadside bombs, while the American and USMC flags adorn the walls. It’s an environment that brought out the best in everyone – six players posted 20.0 KPM or better, while 12 of the 13 players had a 15.0 KPM or higher.

Despite all the heavy artillery in the house, none of the armored vehicles were built to withstand what JV unleashed this week.

He spent the evening locked in like we hadn’t seen in a long time, possibly ever. The result was one of the finest performances of his LEG career.

JV finished round robin with a 21.6 KPM, 6.6 points per round (“PPR”), 72% accuracy and 1.9 cornholes per round. These are the kind of numbers that normally produce a trophy presentation or undefeated record yet somehow resulted in a 3-3 record during round robin play.

I’m not sure if that’s bad luck or further proof that LEG has finally reached the point where nobody gets an easy night anymore. Either way, JV continued pressing the accelerator during his three Mastodons matches.

He helped lead the Mastodons to a 23-19 victory over Petoskeys (more on that later), posting a 22.1 KPM, 6.9 PPR, 1.8 cornholes per round and 84% accuracy.

Against those same Petoskeys later in the evening, he somehow turned it up another notch, throwing an absurd 26.3 KPM (8.0 PPR, 2.3 cornholes per round and 83% accuracy) in a 22-0 rout.

He capped the night by helping the Mastodons edge Apex, 21-19. He threw a 19.5 KPM and averaged 6.1 PPR, 1.4 cornholes per round and 82% accuracy.

For the entire evening, JV won 6 of his 9 matches and averaged 21.7 KPM, 6.7 PPR, 1.8 cornholes per round and 76% accuracy.

GAME OF THE NIGHT

This week’s Game of the Night belongs to Petoskeys, led by Flowers and Paul, taking on Mastodons, led by KP and JV.

Anyone who stopped watching this one before it ended probably assumed the Mastodons made quick work of their opponent.

Five rounds in, JV and KP were beating Paul and Flowers so badly that those on the sidelines thought someone entered incorrect scores into Scoreholio.

A 10-5 advantage by JV over Flowers in the fourth round, followed immediately by KP’s 12-5 demolition of Paul in the fifth, sent the Mastodons sprinting to a commanding 15-1 lead. Two more points from KP in the seventh round stretched the margin to 17-5, and the game appeared headed toward an uneventful conclusion.

Then Petoskeys found a rhythm and reminded everyone they were pretty good at cornhole, too.

Paul and Flowers scored in six consecutive rounds, piecing together a 14-0 avalanche from the eighth through 13th rounds to grab a 19-17 lead. Paul caught fire, averaging 9.0 points per round while personally accounting for 10 of the 14 points. Flowers was every bit the perfect running mate, averaging 7.7 PPR and contributing the other four points.

A game that looked destined for the mercy rule had become a nightmare for the Mastodons.

Fortunately for the Mastodons, pressure has never intimidated JV.

With his team staring at an epic collapse, JV calmly stepped to the line in Round 14 and delivered exactly what the Mastodons needed. His 8-5 victory over Paul flipped the scoreboard back in his team’s favor, 20-19, while reminding everyone why he’s one of the league’s most dangerous closers.

The board became a laundry basket in round 15, with bags stacked everywhere and neither player able to gain an advantage as KP and Flowers battled to a chaotic 6-6 wash.

Everything came down to the 16th round, and JV slammed the door shut.

Two cornholes and a perfectly placed blocker left Paul with few clean looks at the hole. The tactical masterpiece produced a 7-4 round victory—just enough to secure a dramatic 23-19 Mastodons win.

JV buried the final four Mastodon points while finishing with a blistering 22.1 KPM, 6.9 PPR, 84% accuracy, and 1.8 cornholes per round. Paul was equally spectacular despite the loss, posting 22.4 KPM, 6.9 PPR, 78% accuracy, and 1.9 cornholes per round.

The opposite end of the boards featured just as many fireworks. KP was excellent despite being quiet on the scoreboard after the seventh round. He logged a 23.7 KPM, 7.4 PPR, 91% accuracy, and 1.9 cornholes per round, while Flowers answered with an outstanding 22.1 KPM, 6.9 PPR, 84% accuracy, and 1.8 cornholes per round.

In the end, all four players threw well enough to deserve a victory. But only one team was fortunate enough to survive it.

MUSHROOM STAMP MOMENT

Pregame odds suggested Petoskeys (led by Melissa and Flowers) might struggle with the Penguins (featuring Turley and Mike R.).

Apparently, nobody shared those odds with Flowers and Melissa.

The underdogs didn’t just pull off the upset—they emptied the magazine. Petoskeys needed just seven rounds to administer the beatdown, routing the Penguins 23-0.

Flowers accounted for 17 of Petoskeys’ 23 points, averaging a ridiculous 8.8 points per round and an eye-popping 28.7 KPM. Not to be overshadowed, Melissa handled the cleanup, adding the remaining six points while getting the better of Turley.

The seven round massacre is this week’s Mushroom Stamp Moment.
