From the moment Dibble joined the league mid-season in 2019, he had lofty expectations for himself and from others. Coach Mike invited Dibble to the league, and didn’t do him any favors by hyping him up to the other members, “He’ll fit in. He likes to party and loves cornhole. He’s really good. He’s probably better than Galz, and will be near the top of the league. He could probably play with the guys on ESPN if he practiced as often as they do.” If you want to read more about Dibble’s first week at LEG, checkout the link below for the 2019 Week 5 Recap.

He’s a hell of a player, and he did overwhelm the league in 2019. In his first season, he posted a season-best KPM of 14.7, won the 2019 Singles Tournament, and earned 2019 Rookie of the Year honors. Only Marco and Barker were in the same KPM stratosphere that year, finishing at 14.5 and 14.0, respectively, and they did so in far fewer games (Dibble – 49, Marco – 12, and Barker – 3).

However, Dibble’s stellar rookie season also corresponded to KP missing almost the entire year with an injury, and Nick not playing at all. That doesn’t mean there’s an asterisk next to Dibble’s success, or that he didn’t properly earn his accolades. He deserves the praise, but even he would admit his lack of championships since the 2019 Singles Tournament is disappointing and even more maddening is the fact he hasn’t contended for a championship.

He made the neighborhood tougher. In the first three seasons since he joined LEG, the increase in league-wide KPM has been drastic. The league average KPM in 2019, 2020 and 2021 was 10.5, 12.0, and 13.2, respectively. Before he joined LEG, the average KPM in 2017 and 2018 was 8.6 and 9.7, respectively.

He is the rising tide that lifted all boats, which is arguably more impactful than any championship. Just don’t ask Dibble if he agrees with that assessment.
