2025 Week 6 Recap

BEVERLY HILLS, MICHIGAN – A few weeks ago Matt H. arrived to league night, slid into the casual bullshitting that often takes place the to start the evening, and tried to pretend nothing was bothering him.

However, when one of the guys initiated a conversation about the prior week’s recap and season Power Rankings, Matt seized the opportunity to air his grievance.

“How do the Power Rankings work? My record is 19-5 and I’m winning 79% of my games, but I’m only sixth in the Power Rankings,” Matt questioned.

KP explained Power Rankings were based on the size of one’s KPM, not the win-loss record, then attempted to explain the KPM is calculated by weighing three key factors to a cornhole player’s success:

  1. Points per Round (points one scores in a round before netting their opponent’s score)
  2. Accuracy (% of bags scored, counting both in the hole and on the board)
  3. Cornhole per Round (how many of your four bags go in the hole, on average, per round)

These metrics are weighted and then added together to arrive at KPM, which is akin to a hitter’s slugging percentage in baseball – a metric used to measure a hitter’s productivity and power.

KPM’s purpose is to measure a cornhole player’s effectiveness (how many points they score, how accurate they are and how often they put the bag in the hole), despite wins and losses. Certainly players with higher KPMs would be expected to win more, but it’s not always that easy when you factor variables such as how well/poorly the partner and opponents play.

Matt’s eyes glazed over as KP attempted to explain this, probably just as your eyes are glazing over if you’re reading this. KP sensed he was losing Matt, and stopped – “Just fucking throw better and you’ll climb the Power Rankings!”

“Got it!” Matt chuckled.

Speaking of throwing better, let’s give these boys a hand for exceling this week!

  • Erik was on a heater this week, posting an 18.7 KPM as a result of 5.9 points per round (“PPR”), 81% accuracy and 1.4 cornholes per round (“CPR”). Those numbers helped him to a 5-1 record for the week, and jump from #18 to #15 in the Power Rankings. I sense JV’s eye-roll as he reads this, so let’s slam the door on what he’s assuredly thinking – Erik’s partners carried him all night and that’s the only reason he won five of his six games. Wrong! Erik won his six head-to-head match-ups this week to the tune of 237-205, which equates to 0.8 differential per round (“DPR”).
    • Won the head-to-head against Joe S., 33-17, while throwing an 8.3 PPR
    • Won the head-to-head against Dan G. (or Grandpa Dan) in two games, 99-77, while throwing a 5.8 PPR
    • Won the head-to-head against JG, 38-25, while throwing a 6.3 PPR
    • Lost the head-to-head against Flowers, 41-50, but threw a 5.2 PPR (above his season average)
    • Lost the head-to-head against KP, 26-36, but threw 5.2 PPR and his team still won the game
  • Paul threw an 18.3 KPM while logging an impressive 8-1 record, finally breaking his season-long trend of hovering around .500 in the win-loss column (his season record is now 18-11). Paul won his head-to-head match-ups, 343-292, representing 0.86 DPR, which helped his teams win by an average of +7.9 points per game (i.e., the average final score of Paul’s games was 21-13) – the +7.9 scoring differential per game was second-best on the evening behind Erik (+8.0).

GAME OF THE NIGHT

Numerous games were strongly considered for the Week 6 Game of the Night, with nine of the 26 games decided by six points or fewer. Alas, there can only be one winner and this week’s Game of the Night takes us to Game 18: Mike V. and Melissa vs. KP and Joe, with husband and wife facing off head-to-head.

Let’s get right to it, Mike V. looked like the best player in the league through the first four rounds of this game, averaging 9 points per round against KP – recording rounds of 5-6, 9-8, 10-8 and 12-8 during that stretch.

Meanwhile, Melissa slapped her husband around during that same period, scoring eight points for her team while averaging 6 points per round (compared to 5.25 points per round for Joe).

Mike V. and Melissa quickly built a 15-6 lead, and upped that to 18-8 two rounds later. Joe and KP offered encouraging words to each other, but every syllable rattled from the shock both players felt throughout their body.

Round 11 finally offered a glimpse of hope when KP earned three points for his team, followed by 5 more points from Joe in round 12. In a flash, the 10 point lead was down to two (18-16).

Mike V. steadied the ship by washing round 13, while Joe closed the score to 18-17 with one point in round 14…he missed a chance to win the game with a cornhole on his final bag, but missed – likely due to threats from Melissa as he threw the final bag.

In round 15, KP broke the hearts of Melissa and Mike V., as well as the audience rooting for a monumental upset. He couldn’t miss and won the round 10-3 to complete the comeback and hand his opponents a choke.

Melissa and Mike V. should hold their heads high, despite the disappointing loss. Melissa played her husband to a draw, 32-32, and averaged 4.6 points per round. Mike V. narrowly lost the head-to-head with KP, 51-57 (only due to the final round), and averaged 6.4 points per round.

MUSHROOM STAMP MOMENT

Erik received too much praise for everyone’s liking, so it’s time we bring him back to Earth. This week’s Mushroom Stamp Moment (“MSM”) occurred in Game 5 where Paul G. and Flowers battled Craig and Erik.

This was a phenomenal game with five lead changes until Craig and Erik earned a 19-17 advantage through 14 rounds.

It seemed round 15 would be pivotal, likely leading to one of the players clinching victory. Flowers stepped up for his team and drained four consecutive cornholes; Erik could not keep up, managing only two points. Flowers’ 12-2 round secured victory, handed Erik his only loss of the night, and offered JV the ammunition to yell, “YOU SUCK!” as Erik limped off the court.

Oh, and it also earned this week’s Mushroom Stamp Moment.

This week’s box score is below.

2025 Week 5 Recap

BEVERLY HILLS, MICHIGAN – Anyone who has played one week, or one tournament, of LEG quickly realizes the outrageousness with JV. Wise cracks, outbursts, and an occasional drop of his pants to moon his opponent because they scored too many points (while also showing off his heavy, low-hanging nuts) are standard, harmless occurrences from JV.

However, a handful of us who’ve been around since LEG inception know of an escalated level JV used reach. Things like shitting his pants in the middle of a game, then tossing his dirty, soiled drawers over the fence into Bushie’s neighbor’s yard. Or growing so frustrated from not being able to throw a bag on the board from 27 feet that he blindly launches a full beer into the air, that somehow navigated two trees and landed on KP’s head, spraying beer all over KP’s laptop.

And those things happened in back-to-back weeks during the 2017 campaign. Please, enjoy a trip down memory lane:

2017 Week 6 Recap

2017 Week 7 Recap

While those instances were in fact pretty wild, JV has steadily calmed down over the last eight years, at least when compared to his prior reference point…he certainly isn’t calm compared to most of the other league members.

Despite a relatively “clean” run the past eight years, things started down a dark path again this week – not quite like forgetting one’s daily dose of Metamucil and suddenly finding yourself dumping diarrhea on your neighbor’s tree because you couldn’t make it home from a walk with the dog…but close.

JV started the night well, winning his first match while throwing 5.5 points per round (“PPR”). But after that he lost two consecutive games before he was saved by the rain cancellation, otherwise things could have continued to spiral.

During the rain delay, JV was so frustrated with his game and the most recent loss with Bushie as his partner, that he ripped one of his teeth out while deepthroating a bunless coney dog in front of the whole group. Was this an attempt to motivate himself to play better? An intimidation tactic? Nobody is sure, other than we can confidently say it involved the old level of JV craziness.

GAME OF THE NIGHT

Mother Nature limited us to only eight games this week, robbing us of another fun-filled Thursday night. At some point we need her to cooperate and stop dealing us rain delays and rain cancellations.

Without much to choose from, this week’s Game of the Night leads us to Game 3 with Erik and Mike V. squaring off against Paul G. and Bushie. While this wasn’t a David vs. Goliath contest, it was one you’d expect Paul and Bushie to handle considering they are #11 and #20, respectively, in the Power Rankings, compared to #18 and #22, respectively, for Erik and Mike V.

Yet, Erik out-punted his coverage to start this match, averaging 6 PPR while logging rounds of 3, 10, 3 and 8 points. That was enough to limit Paul to just a one point advantage during that stretch, a critical factor in the game plan to pull an upset.

On the other end, Mike V. bested Bushie during that stretch by seven points, helping his team to a 15-9 lead after eight rounds.

As is often the case for underdogs, all it takes is a momentary lack of focus leaving the door cracked just enough for the favorites to kick it in. In the 11th round Paul continued throwing well, while Erik slipped up just enough, giving way to an enormous 10-2 round. Paul’s eight points surged his team to a 17-15 lead.

Bushie added another point, upping the lead to 18-15.

All the sudden, nerves overpowered all four players, shifting a well-played game to a temporary stinker.

  • Erik allowed a prime chance to slip through his fingers. Paul missed all four of his bags off the board in the 12th round. Yet Erik only managed to score two bags on the board, cutting his team’s deficit to 18-17
  • In the 13th round Mike V. had a chance to clinch victory simply by boarding his final bag. Instead he missed, settling for a 3-0 round win (his team took a 20-18 lead). The flip side is Bushie could have also capitalized on Mike’s three bags on the board, but did not score any of his four bags
  • The 14th round somehow regressed, with Paul scoring one point on a 2-1 advantage over Erik. Again, both players squandered excellent opportunities to win the game, and both choked.
  • Bushie finally ended the misery in the 15th round with an anti-climactic 4-1 advantage, winning the game 21-20.

This really was an excellent match for 75% of the rounds. However, the final four rounds (two for each player) were hard to watch. I’m not trying to be negative, but consider the following statistics during the ugly final four rounds:

  • Erik – threw 8 bags and only scored on 3 of them, no cornholes
  • Paul – threw 8 bags and only scored on 2 of them, no cornholes
  • Mike V. – threw 8 bags and only scored on 2 of them, one cornhole
  • Bushie – threw 8 bags and only scored on 4 of them (all four scored in the final round to win the match), no cornholes

MUSHROOM STAMP MOMENT

After shitting on the four guys involved in the Game of the Night, it’s time to end on a positive note.

In Game 1, Flowers and KP matched up with JV and Paul. After struggling the last few weeks, KP started red-hot this week, throwing rounds of 8, 8, 10, 8 and 10 to begin Game 1 (that’s an 8.8 average PPR). However, this only produced four net points because Paul was also on a heater, throwing rounds of 7, 4, 8, 12 and 9 (an 8.0 average PPR).

Paul battled, hanging in while taking some of KP’s best stuff. He was rewarded with an opportunity to win the game in the 13th round when KP missed an aggressive attempt to collect a low blocker bag.

Paul kept control of the middle board, while forcing KP into heroics, and it paid off in the form of a 10-4 round win, giving his team a 21-11 victory.

Paul earns this week’s Mushroom Stamp Moment (“MSM”) for throwing fire and not giving up much during KP’s onslaught. Then he delivered the knockout blow in the 13th round.

2025 Week 4 Recap

BEVERLY HILLS, MICHIGAN – Something special filled the air Thursday night – a cloud that brewed confidence into some, and shakiness into others. It was a night of blown leads, huge comebacks and clutch shots in big moments. Game 1 set the trend for the night when Kentucky Mike and Abbey held a 15-10 lead over Matt H. and Flowers, yet could not close the game, or even score another point, ultimately losing 21-15.

Four additional games followed the same theme – one team notched at least 15 points while hanging on to a lead, yet ended up losing the game.

  • Game 8 – Paul and Abbey appeared firmly in control with a 17-9 lead, while Nick and Roger were wobbly from taking so many early punches to the mouth. Then Nick and Roger collected themselves and ripped off a 12-0 run to win the game, 21-17.
  • Game 9 – We’ll have more on this later in the recap, but Craig and Joe had a commanding 15-1 lead over Flowers and Mike R. Somehow, they lost that game 21-18.
  • Game 15 – Another one that will be discussed in more detail momentarily…Kentucky Mike and Mike R. had a 17-10 advantage over Roger and Craig. Take a wild guess what happened next – that’s right, Roger and Craig roared back for a 21-19 victory.
  • Game 22 – Turley and Paul were on the cusp of a dominating win, leading JG and Kentucky Mike 19-10. Blowing a 19-10 lead is painful, usually accompanied by giving up big chunk rounds. That’s not what happened in this game. JG and Kentucky Mike clawed all the way back for the win, doing so across the final six rounds of the game, a feat that seems almost impossible considering 48 total bags were thrown during that stretch and Turley and Paul could not manage tallying two final points. JG scored seven of his team’s points during the comeback, while Kentucky Mike pitched in five points, including the finishing touch with an 8-5 round over Turley.

The games mentioned above almost had company from five more games of the same pattern. However, the leading teams recovered after blowing late-game advantages and still won the game. Chaos. That’s the best way to describe this week.

GAME OF THE NIGHT

Not surprisingly, Game 9 takes honors for Game of the Night. The ending has been spoiled, but let’s revisit the details of how this one unfolded.

As a reminder, this was a showdown between Craig and Joe against Flowers and Mike R. (or “Big Mike”).

Even though Joe came out firing, averaging 6.25 points per round (“PPR”) through his first four rounds, Big Mike battled pretty evenly during that stretch, only giving up five points.

Craig was the monster who couldn’t be contained in the early part of this match – he tallied 10 points for his team thanks to dominating rounds of 9-3 and 10-6 against Flowers. Those big chunks, combined with Joe chipping away against Big Mike, yielded an early, dominating 15-1 lead.

In the ninth round, Flowers collected three points against Craig, followed by Big Mike collecting three more points in the 10th round. In the 11th round, Flowers scored two more points, suddenly cutting their deficit to 15-9.

Despite Craig’s early dominance, he continued to hemorrhage points in the middle parts of this match, giving up three points in round 13 and four more points in round 15. Joe attempted to halt all of this momentum with a point here, point there, but the tsunami was already hitting land.

When Big Mike added three more points against Joe in the 16th round it gave his team a 19-18 lead, capping a ridiculous 18-3 run while rebounding from the early 15-1 deficit.

In the 17th round of this marathon, Flowers drained a cornhole and muddied the board with his other three bags, causing Craig to chase hero shots in order to stay in the game. He couldn’t connect, missing two airmails and a tough push shot, ultimately only landing one bag on the board. Flowers’ 6-1 advantage was the final nail in the coffin, wrapping up one of the most amazing runs we’ve seen this season in a comeback victory (and “choke” for Joe and Craig).

During the 23-3 run, Flowers scored 17 of his team’s points, helping him win the head-to-head battle against Craig, despite Craig’s dominating start to the game.

MUSHROOM STAMP MOMENT

Let’s rewind to Game 15, where Kentucky Mike and Big Mike held a 17-10 lead over Roger and Craig

through 10 rounds of action. Roger’s 10-4 advantage in the 11th round tightened the score, 17-16, followed by Craig tacking on three more points in the 12th round (7-4 advantage), giving his team a 19-17 lead.

Kentucky Mike bounced back nicely with a 10-8 win in round 13 against Roger, tying the game at 19-19 and setting the stage for the Mushroom Stamp Moment (“MSM”). Craig found the bottom of the hole four times in the most clutch moment of the game. Meanwhile, Big Mike couldn’t keep up, scoring just four points of his own.

Craig’s four-bagger with the game tied 19-19 earns this week’s MSM, and frankly there was no other moment that could compete for MSM honors. For good measure, Craig posted the best PPR of all four players during the match, shooting 6.43 points per round.

2025 Week 3 Recap

BEVERY HILLS, MICHIGAN – An early-season Thursday night exploded into a tournament environment this week at Bushie’s house. Typical participation on Thursday night ranges from 10 – 15 players, but apparently Bushie brings everyone out of the closet…err, woodwork…22 players rolled up, surely a recipe for the Beverly Hills cops to show up at some point.

The first few years of LEG were predominantly hosted at Bushie’s house, and he’s become widely known for being a gracious host with all the cornhole accoutrements – beautiful backyard with luscious grass flanked by a large patio, relaxing deck overseeing one of the courts, and a clothes optional hot tub. We affectionately refer to his outdoor arrangements as the Augusta National of LEG. It’s hard to pin-point exactly why so many flocked to his house. The peaceful, beautiful setting? The fact we don’t play at his house as often, so it is indeed a special treat? Excellent food, almost always involving smoked meat? The edibles? Helping clean-up 15 partially filled Coors Lights at the end of the night?

Whatever the reason, it was quite a night of cornhole. Consider some of these group statistics:

  • 42 games played, 14 of which decided by 6 points or fewer
  • 15 of 22 players posted a KPM of 15.0 or higher, equating to roughly 70%+ toss accuracy, 5.0+ points per round and 1.0+ cornholes per round (you can read more about KPM in the “About LEG” section of the website)
  • 17 total four-baggers, lead by KP with four and Matt H. with three
  • Another 67 10-point rounds, paced by Howdy with 9 and Kentucky Mike with 8

GAME OF THE NIGHT

This week’s Game of the Night takes us to Game 19, pitting Craig F. and Roger against Dibble and Howdy. The game was fantastic early with all four players combining to average 6.75 points per round through the first six rounds (Howdy – 7.33, Dibble – 6.67, Craig F. – 6.67, and Roger – 6.33). Consequently, there was very little scoring during that early stretch – Howdy and Dibble held a measly 6 – 3 lead.

Roger posted a 5-point advantage in the seventh round (an 8-3 win in the round), giving his team an 8 – 6 lead. However, in the eighth round Dibble drained a four-bagger that netted seven enormous points, leap-frogging his team into a 13 – 8 lead and igniting a 14 – 2 run for his team over the next eight rounds.

Dibble and Howdy had a firm grip on this game after the 14th round, leading 20 – 10. Craig paused quickly to refresh his beverage, making eye contact with KP in the process, “I can never seem to beat that guy (in reference to Dibble),” he said. KP and a few other observers began scattering to watch other games under the same assumption as Craig, that game was over.

About five minutes later, Craig approached KP with an enthusiastic smile, “I think that was the first win of my life against Dibble!” Confused, KP asked what the hell happened. Allow me to recap:

  • Roger and Craig scraped together four points in rounds 15 and 16, cutting into the deficit (now 20 – 14)
  • Roger and Howdy washed, 8-8, in the 17th round
  • Craig dropped a 10-3 advantage on Dibble in the 18th round, giving his squad a remarkable 21 – 20 comeback victory

The rally by Craig and Roger officially qualifies for a “comeback” while also registering a “choke” on the ledger for Howdy and Dibble (if a team holds a 10+ point lead at any point during a game and fails to win that game, they earn a “choke” and the rallying team is rewarded with a “comeback”). Craig, head-to-head with Dibble, accounted for 10 of the 11 points during their comeback. Poetic justice for all of Craig’s previous falters against Dibble.

MUSHROOM STAMP MOMENT

We have to rewind to Game 9 for this week’s Mushroom Stamp Moment (“MSM”). Bushie and Kentucky Mike raced out to a 9 – 0 lead over JV and KP, powered by Bushie’s early 9 points per round average.

However, when Bushie finally came back to Earth with a 1-point round, JV pounced with 9-point round (netting eight points) to kick-start an 18-3 run for his team.

Facing an 18 – 12 deficit, Bushie dropped back-to-back rounds of 9 points and 10 points, respectively, netting 11 total points and a victory! Bushie’s final bag of the 10-point round required a right-to-left cut collection of his blocker bag, and he hit it beautifully to win the game.

Bushie averaged 7.5 points per round for the game, and was an absurd 8.8 points per round with 18 of 20 bags scored (13 of those 18 were cornholes) when excluding his 1-point round stinker. That individual performance earns Bushie this week’s Mushroom Stamp Moment.

2025 Week 2 Recap

BEVERLY HILLS, MICHIGAN – It’s been a bit of a sleepy start to the 2025 season with the calendar showing mid-May, yet the LEG schedule is only on week 2. The positive aspect of Mother Nature’s inability to cooperate is the cornhole demand she helped create. Eleven gentlemen rolled into Beverly Hills for an early season showdown, the majority of which threw as if it they were in midseason form – eight of the 11 players posted KPM of 15.0 or higher.

Of all the players, JV was arguably the most lights-out, going 6-2 while posting an 18.1 KPM.

JV has steadily ascended the Power Rankings since the middle of the 2024 season after battling a multi-year period of stagnation. Whether mental or physical/mechanical, JV conquered whatever was holding him back and is now on a mission to re-establish himself as a top tier player in this league.

Pick any statistic, JV was a top-3 player this week: 5.7 points per round (“PPR”), 76% toss accuracy, 1.3 cornholes per round (“CPR”), or 18.1 KPM. Yet most impressive was his +6.9 scoring differential, the best of the week, meaning he helped lead his teams to victory by an average of 6.9 points per game.

JV’s greatest highlight of the night occurred during Game 19 with his team holding a 17-13 lead. Dan G. tried to muddy the board with blockers, hoping to steal a few points for his team. This wasn’t JV’s first rodeo – knowing there was no way Dan G. could block the hole, JV opened his tool box and utilized his favorite shot…the airmail. JV drained consecutive airmails to cap a 12-point round, and Dan G. failed to clean-up his own laundry. JV closed the game with a 12 – 2 round, giving his team a 21-13 victory.

GAME OF THE NIGHT

The Game of the Night takes us to Game 9, featuring Roger and Mike V. against Matt H. and Mike R.

Mike R. and Matt wasted no time, sprinting out of the blocks for a 9 – 0 lead after only two rounds. Roger quickly stemmed the tide in the third round by scoring four points. Those four points sparked a 17-3 run for Roger and Mike V. over the next eight rounds, giving them a 17 – 12 lead. Mike V. posted eight of the 17 points during that stretch, while Roger logged nine points.

Over the next six rounds the teams washed three rounds, while Mike R. ham-and-egged his way to a single point in two of those rounds. Matt finally helped his team break free with a 10-6 advantage in round 17, giving his squad an 18 – 17 lead.

After consecutive washes in rounds 18 and 19, the Mikes squared off in clutch time. Both players had five points after three bags. Mike R. slid his fourth bag into the hole to sit on eight points for the round, which required Mike V. to score on his fourth bag to keep the game alive.

Mike V.’s fourth bag channeled too much adrenaline and caromed off the back of the board, giving Mike R. and Matt a 21 – 17 comeback victory.

After falling behind 17 – 12, Mike R. and Matt closed the game on a 9-0 run. The crazier part about how they closed the game is they did it over EIGHT rounds – how they stymied their opponent for eight consecutive rounds is beyond me. But, it is perhaps one of the most clutch, defensive performances we’ve seen in a long time.

MUSHROOM STAMP MOMENT

You might be asking how JV’s airmail-induced 12-2 round isn’t the Mushroom Stamp Moment (“MSM”) of the night. That’s a fair question. Yet this week’s MSM is a little unconventional – for the first time in history, two players earn the Mushroom Stamp Moment of the night. In Game 21 Mike V. and Matt H. played head-to-head and threw unbelievably.

Matt H. threw an 8.0 PPR and did not miss a bag off the board during the game, scoring on 16 of 16 bags thrown. Now, consider that Matt’s statistics weren’t good enough to win the head-to-head with Mike V.

Mike threw an 8.25 PPR and scored on 15 of 16 bags thrown, including nine cornholes.

Congratulations to both players! These two deserve this week’s MSM for their elevated play in a tense, high-level face-off.

2025 Week 1 Recap

BEVERLY HILLS, MICHIGAN – The latest offseason was a little colder, and felt a little longer, than usual. To help fight the winter blues, nine of the Gentlemen took their talents to a league at the Berkley American Legion, and Roger hosted us at The Barn twice during the dog days.

Of course those venues are great, providing opportunities to play and continue seeing one another. However, the game just feels different on that first cool April night when we gather to begin a new season.

The 2025 campaign marks the 10-year anniversary for LEG, an achievement equally satisfying and unbelievable. When LEG started in 2016, it was designed to wrangle friends together in an attempt to see each other more often because various life demands began pulling at the fabric of our friendship, testing the strengths of it’s thread. Not even in my wildest dreams did I believe we’d still be here, doing this, 10 years later while also expanding the friendship group to more incredible guys…one might say it’s Extraordinary.

GAME OF THE NIGHT

Kicking off the 2025 Games of the Night was the father-son duo of Jake and Flowers against Mike V. and Bushie. This Game 4 tilt was easily the best match of the night – all other six games were decided by 8 or more points, including five games decided by double digits. Not at all an uncommon trend early in the season when rust is getting knocked off.

Game 4 was a dandy. Bushie and Mike V. were productive in the first two rounds of the game, taking a 6 – 0 lead thanks to four points from Bushie and two from Mike V.

Jake ignited his squad in the third round with a 10-3 advantage over Mike V., and Flowers added two more points for a quick 9-0 run. Jake tacked on another four points in the fifth round with an 8-4 advantage, giving his team a 13 – 6 lead.

Meanwhile Flowers had the unenviable task of holding off a surge from Bushie – over the next three rounds from these two (rounds 6, 8 and 10), Bushie averaged 7 points per round (“PPR”) and Mike V. chipped in three more points to aid in his team capturing a 16 – 15 lead.

Bushie’s hot stretch could have ended the game, but Flowers held firm averaging 5 PPR to yield only six points across those three rounds. If that doesn’t sound impressive, consider one of the rounds was a 10-4 advantage for Bushie and it’s clear how hard Flowers battled to extinguish Bushie’s fire.

In the 11th round Jake dropped the hammer, draining three bags en route to a 10-3 clobbering, securing a 21 – 16 victory for team father-son.

Jake gets the glory, but his moment wouldn’t have been possible without Flowers’ fight in the middle rounds.

MUSHROOM STAMP MOMENT

How appropriate that Game 1 of the season earns the Mushroom Stamp Moment (“MSM”) – Jake and KP dealt Flowers and Mike V. a bun run from jump street. Credit to the streakers, they battled seven rounds hoping to earn a point, but couldn’t pull it off.

The game, not an individual moment, earns this week’s MSM. Flowers and Mike V. had reprieve from a naked lap around the yard because of the cool, crisp April breeze. But you better believe we are going to hold them accountable for this, and those buns will parade around the yard very soon.

2024 Week 13 Recap

BEVERLY HILLS, MICHIGAN – August has arrived, bringing the scorching heat, humidity and sticky boards along with her. Conditions were tough this week, as the final two-month push of the 2024 season begins. Two players are throwing with a sense of urgency, elevating their game in the early part of this stretch run.

JV was supposed to be a week 13 scratch from the lineup because of a double hernia. He gingerly waddled into the backyard, poured a vodka-tonic shot and confirmed he was ready to roll.

Then, JV went out and posted a 6-2 record with a 15.7 KPM, 5.0 PPR and 75% accuracy, all while battling his guts protruding through his abdomen. Ranked #10 out of 28 players, his 17.2 KPM this season is easily the best of his career (15.0 KPM is his previous season high). If his hernia cooperates, JV looks poised to contend for the 2024 Postseason Tournament title.

In week 9 we highlighted JG’s return to LEG after a six year hiatus. All he’s done since then is climb the Power Rankings, including posting back-to-back weeks of 15.8 KPM (this week and week 12, respectively). The highlight of his night was a 21-7 victory where he scored on 19 of 20 bags thrown during the game, including 8 cornholes – that’s a blistering 95% accuracy and 7 PPR.

JG’s KPM has jumped from 12.2 to 15.8 in only four weeks. With approximately eight weeks remaining in the season, he’s a sleeping giant to keep an eye on.

MUSHROOM STAMP MOMENT

This week’s Mushroom Stamp Moment takes us to Game 10 with Erik and JV facing JG and Barker. Erik and JV raced to an 11-1 lead, which quickly evaporated, turning into an 11-11 tie. They answered with a run of their own to claim an 18-14 lead after six rounds. In the top of the seventh round, Erik played chess against JG, locating blockers perfectly and then cleaning them up with push shots. He won the round 8-2, giving his squad a 21-14 victory. Erik’s well-executed, strategic 8-point round earns him this week’s MSM.
