BEVERLY HILLS, MICHIGAN – August has arrived, bringing the scorching heat, humidity and sticky boards along with her. Conditions were tough this week, as the final two-month push of the 2024 season begins. Two players are throwing with a sense of urgency, elevating their game in the early part of this stretch run.
JV was supposed to be a week 13 scratch from the lineup because of a double hernia. He gingerly waddled into the backyard, poured a vodka-tonic shot and confirmed he was ready to roll.
Then, JV went out and posted a 6-2 record with a 15.7 KPM, 5.0 PPR and 75% accuracy, all while battling his guts protruding through his abdomen. Ranked #10 out of 28 players, his 17.2 KPM this season is easily the best of his career (15.0 KPM is his previous season high). If his hernia cooperates, JV looks poised to contend for the 2024 Postseason Tournament title.
In week 9 we highlighted JG’s return to LEG after a six year hiatus. All he’s done since then is climb the Power Rankings, including posting back-to-back weeks of 15.8 KPM (this week and week 12, respectively). The highlight of his night was a 21-7 victory where he scored on 19 of 20 bags thrown during the game, including 8 cornholes – that’s a blistering 95% accuracy and 7 PPR.
JG’s KPM has jumped from 12.2 to 15.8 in only four weeks. With approximately eight weeks remaining in the season, he’s a sleeping giant to keep an eye on.

MUSHROOM STAMP MOMENT
This week’s Mushroom Stamp Moment takes us to Game 10 with Erik and JV facing JG and Barker. Erik and JV raced to an 11-1 lead, which quickly evaporated, turning into an 11-11 tie. They answered with a run of their own to claim an 18-14 lead after six rounds. In the top of the seventh round, Erik played chess against JG, locating blockers perfectly and then cleaning them up with push shots. He won the round 8-2, giving his squad a 21-14 victory. Erik’s well-executed, strategic 8-point round earns him this week’s MSM.
